Hello Potters

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

From the President

Welcome to another year at Shorncliffe Pottery!

Many thanks to the kiln team for ensuring everyone’s pottery was fired in time for Christmas. I hope your friends and family enjoyed receiving your handmade gifts.

During the Christmas break, we added a few new items to the studio, which I’m sure you’ll be eager to see when we reopen on the 12th. Special thanks to Steve for his handyman work, as well as Sandy and Bec for their help reorganising the space.

We've received a lot of interest from people eager to join the studio when memberships reopen on February 1st. If you're interested, keep an eye on our website that day for a link. If you haven't renewed your membership yet, please do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions or issues with HelloClub, please email shorncliffepotteryclubinc@gmail.com and we'll be happy to help.

What’s coming up this year at the club? We’ve got an exciting line-up of workshops and Sunday socials, kicking off with Melina’s six-week hand building workshop on February 8th. We’ll also be attending both the Bluewater and Einbunpin festivals, hosting a Mother’s Day pop-up event, and opening our studio for the Creative Trail in October. Plus, we’re thrilled to return to the Et al Gallery for a showcase running from September 22nd to October 3rd.

Happy potting

Suzanne

2026 Membership Due

Your annual membership is due by the end of this month, January. If you don’t want to continue please let the Membership officer know on the following email. You have until 1 February 2026 to pay your membership before it is cancelled and the membership gates open for new members. That’s only 30 days, so don’t put it off.

Here’s the link to HelloClub to renew.

2026 Membership Amendments

New Memberships opens 1st February 2026. 2025 Memberships that have expired will become eligible for new members from this date. The selection process is by a first come first served basis.

Volunteering is a mandatory requirement for all members, with a minimum commitment of three hours per year.  Volunteer contributions are essential to the operation of our club, as all positions and initiatives depend exclusively on member support.  Members who are unable to volunteer may opt to pay a levy of $60. Please note that failure to fulfill the required volunteer hours or pay the levy will result in ineligibility for membership renewal in the subsequent year.

Since we do not operate as a commercial firing service, each member is subject to the standard firing rate for up to 250 kg; any amount over this limit will incur charges at twice the standard rate.

Studio Break

Studio sessions start again Monday 12th January 2026.

Our kiln team and supervisors have worked hard all year; please join us in respecting their well-deserved break.
